Hello! I’m Lorena Carthy-Wilmot, with a strong background in Digital Forensics, Incident Response, and Cybersecurity.* I work as a Journalistic Security Engineer at Schibsted Media, an international media group headquartered in Oslo. In my role, I provide cybersecurity protection to uphold the integrity of journalists’ work and safeguard the information they handle.

Previously, I worked as a Special Investigator for the Eastern Police District, conducting complex crime investigations involving digital evidence —a challenge I found both fascinating and fulfilling. Before that, I led PwC Oslo’s Forensic Technology Services Lab, a role in which I honed my skills and deepened my passion for digital forensics.

Academically, my journey has been rooted in digital forensics and cybersecurity. I earned my BSc (Hons) in Digital Forensics from Noroff University College in scenic Kristiansand, Norway, and later pursued my MSc in Cybersecurity at Teesside University in Middlesbrough, UK. These experiences not only broadened my expertise, but also fueled my passion for uncovering digital truths.

I am deeply passionate about digital forensics and enjoy applying my forensic skills to cybersecurity work with journalists. I believe that freedom of expression deserves the highest levels of protection in our digital age.

Beyond my professional work, I’m dedicated to creating a more inclusive tech world. I actively advocate for diversity and inclusion, especially in making technology accessible to all. I’m particularly committed to supporting the Deaf community within the tech industry and amplifying the voices of BIPOC and LGBTQAI+ individuals in tech spaces. These efforts reflect my belief in a tech industry that celebrates diversity in all its forms.
